Our Story

Vatos Tacos Grill & Cantina

KNOW THE HISTORY

SINCE 2015

Vatos Tacos began with a dream from Cesar Soto to share his love of tacos and Mexican cuisine.  After being laid off from the oilfields after 13 years of service, Cesar knew he wanted to do something different.

This lit a fire in him to start a unique Mexican food experience with a Baja California twist for Kern County, the first of it’s kind.  Cesar and his fiancé Adriana Malta would start catering for Kern County residents, using a small catering mobile cart. That lead to them to soon buy a Taco Truck and the name began to take off. Soon after that Vatos Tacos would become so requested that a restaurant was the next milestone for the business.

The menu was inspired by his parents roots, from Guanajuato and Guadalajara.  He decided to create dishes with ingredients from both regions of Mexico as well as a twist of Baja California.  Vatos Tacos quickly became a favorite place for many Kern County residents, it’s become a place to enjoy amazing Mexican food and a warm lively environment.

Cesar and his family continue to live the American dream, providing authentic Mexican cuisine to Kern County.  Vatos Tacos brings a breathe of fresh air to the community and delicious Aguas Frescas made with real Watermelon, Cucumbersl, to authentic Horchatas & Jaimacas rich with flavor.  Come in to dine at one of our two locations including our newest location off of Ming & Ashe in the old El Portal building.
